The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office has identified multiple suspects involved in several incidents in the Huddleston area. Rebecca Bailey was arrested on 3-29-2021 for Forgery and Uttering, larceny of credit cards, and obtain money by false pretense. Angela Tuck was arrested on 3-26-2021 for forgery and uttering. Marvin Layne was arrested on 3-29-2021 for grand larceny. Eugene “Tommy” Little is currently wanted for forgery and uttering.  All this information was developed as the Sheriff’s Office was conducting an investigation into the recent larcenies from mailboxes in the Huddleston and Body Camp area. The investigation is still on-going and further charges may be forth-coming.

HENRICO, Va. (AP) — A boy suspected of fatally shooting a teenage girl in Virginia has been taken into custody, police said Saturday.

The Henrico County Police Division tweeted that the boy faces charges of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by juvenile and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Police didn’t release the boy’s name because he is a minor.

The girl died at a hospital after Friday’s shooting at a subdivision. Police said witnesses saw a mask-wearing suspect run from the shooting scene.

A neighbor, Megan Cinder, told WWBT-TV said she heard people down the street yelling, “Gunman!”

“My son was crying because he was scared. You just don’t think that’s going to happen out here,” she said.

8 people dead in the Atlanta area last week; 10 yesterday in Boulder, Colorado, both the result of mass shooting incidents. Governor Ralph Northam expressed sorrow and more about that today. Some municipalities including Roanoke have also passed measures banning guns from many public spaces and buildings.

Rocky Mount, Va – March 21st, 2021: On Saturday, March 20th, at approximately 11:20pm, the Franklin County Communications Center received a 911 call for a stabbing incident in the 200 block of Southside Drive in Rocky Mount. The caller advised that a family member had stabbed another family member and fled the scene. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Franklin County Public Safety responded to the scene and located the juvenile caller outside of the residence. EMS provided emergency medical assistance to the stabbing victim, 70 year old Jacqueline Green, but attempts to revive were unsuccessful.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Virginia State Police conducted perimeter searches and located the suspect, 40 year old Silas Leon Green Jr, at his residence in the 100 block of Southside Drive. Upon entry into the residence, Mr. Green was deceased of what appears to be self-inflicted wounds. The investigation of this incident remains ongoing.

(Roanoke County, VA—March 20, 2021) Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded at about 10:00a.m., on Saturday, March 120, 2021 to the 6800 block of Trevilian Road, in the North County area,for the report of a residential structure fire. First arriving crews from Station 1(North County)found heavy fire showing from the rear of a two-story house. The home was occupied by one adult at the time of the fire. The occupant was able to evacuate and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two cats were also inside at the time of the fire. One cat is deceased and one is still missing. The fire was knocked down in about fifteen minutes after the arrival of the first units. There was a partial roof collapse on the rear of the structure. The occupant will be displaced. We appreciate the help of Roanoke Fire and EMS on this call. The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating and will provide a damage estimate. ###

UPDATE: The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office has concluded their investigation of the fire yesterday in the 5800 block of Maywood Avenue and ruled the cause of this fire to be undetermined. The estimated amount of damage is $60,000.

First arriving crews from Station 9 (Ft. Lewis)found smoke and flames coming from a single story, brick home. The home was occupied by two adults at the time of the fire. Both were able to evacuate and one of them was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other occupant was treated on scene but was not transported to the hospital. The fire was brought under control in about fifteen minutes after the arrival of the first units. The occupants will be displaced and staying with family in the area. We appreciate the help of Salem Fire and EMS on this call. The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating and will provide a damage estimate. ###

Roanoke Police say they are investigating a woman’s shooting with many unanswered questions — including exactly where it occurred. Police say the female victim was brought privately to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital late last night for treatment of a gunshot wound described as serious but non-life threatening. Beyond that, investigators appear to have very little information.

NEWS RELEASE: On March 18, 2021 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Roanoke Police were notified that a person with a gunshot wound had arrived via personal transport at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Officers responded to the hospital to speak with the adult female victim. She had what appeared to be serious but non-life threatening injuries. Detectives are still working to determine where the incident occurred. Further details are limited at this time. No arrests have been made regarding this incident. The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents that someone is stealing mail from mailboxes — and after going through it, dumping it alongside roadways. Officials say the activity is centered in the Huddleston and Body Camp areas. Residents are asked to be on the lookout for suspicious activity, and if they come across discarded mail, do not touch it. Instead, call the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.

NEWS RELEASE: The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple larcenies from mailboxes. Most of these events appear to be occurring in the Huddleston and Body Camp areas of the county. The suspects will dump large amounts of opened mail on the sides of the road after filtering through it. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting residents to remain vigilant and if they see any suspicious activity or discarded mail in an unusual area, please do not touch or disturb it in any way. (Roanoke, VA) – On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, the National Park Service, along with Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, recovered a body near Rutrough Point on the Roanoke River.

The body recovered has been identified as Brent Gibson, 26, of Bedford County, Virginia. Search operations for Gibson began on March 3, 2021, in the vicinity of the Roanoke River Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Blue Ridge Parkway officials would like to thank Virginia State Police, Roanoke County Police, Bedford County Sherriff’s Office, Virginia Conservation Police, Roanoke County Swift Water Rescue Team, Scruggs Dive Team, Blue Ridge Bloodhounds, American Electric Power dam operations, and all the family, staff and volunteers that provided support for this search and recovery effort.
