Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital reports Vicki Gardner was discharged Monday, 11 days after she and WDBJ7 employees Alison Parker and Adam Ward were shot during a live broadcast from Smith Mountain Lake. Gardner’s Facebook recovery page was updated yesterday afternoon. She says she wakes to renewing strength and optimism every day and says she has no thoughts of “why me” but a feeling of what can be done to unite the community. Gardner is expected to make a full recovery. She is Executive Director of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce.
