From Salem City Police: On August 29, at approximately 4:08 p.m., officers from the Salem Police Department responded to the portion of the Roanoke River Greenway that is in the 800 block of Bowman Avenue in reference to a masked individual who was reportedly carrying a steel pipe. Upon arrival, officers were advised that a white male subject approximately six-feet tall, wearing a black hoodie and using a bandana to cover his face, had approached users of the greenway. Witnesses said the man was carrying a steel pipe and displaying it in a threatening manner, although he did not make any demands and no one was injured. After subsequent investigation, Salem Police arrested 18-year-old, Daimian Hudson Dalton of Salem on September 2 and charged him with two counts of Simple Assault and two counts of Wearing a Mask in Public. Dalton is being held without bond in the Western Virginia Regional Jail.
