The Virginia Museum of Transportation is trying to build — and rebuild — its aviation gallery as part of both a long recovery and long-range goal. The latest from WFIR’s Evan Jones.

It was five years ago when a thunderstorm tore off part of the museum’s roof, and there was plenty of damage to the aviation gallery below. Executive Director Bev Fitzpatrick says the Transportation Museum has been working ever since to rebuild the gallery, one designed to reflect the aviation industry’s importance to Virginia. Just last week, they tore apart a donated corporate jet. They’ll keep the cabin and cockpit for a new exhibit.
