NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) – Multiple empty freight cars derailed in Virginia, causing some passenger train delays. News outlets report that the derailment happened around 6 p.m. Sunday in Newport News. CSX says that the derailment didn’t cause any hazardous materials to be released, nor were there injuries. Amtrak said the derailment delayed multiple of its passenger trains in Virginia, but service was back to normal Monday. News outlets report that damage was visible on freight cars and some were piled on top of each other.
