State-NewsRICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level since September 2008. The Virginia Employment Commission said Friday that the state’s jobless rate in August was 4.5 percent. The rate in September 2008 was 4.3 percent. The unemployment rate declined by 0.3 percentage point from 4.8 percent in July. Virginia’s rate was below the national rate of 5.1 percent in August. Virginia’s seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment in August was 3.8 million, an increase of 900 jobs.
