One person was killed and two others were injured yesterday in an ambulance crash.
Authorities say an ambulance was traveling south on Route 18 in Alleghany County when it ran off the side of the road, hitting a mailbox and an embankment.
69-year-old Claudette Wince of Covington later died at the hospital.
The driver and another passenger were also hurt.
No word on their conditions.

From Virginia State Police: ALLEGHANY CO., Va. – Virginia State Police Trooper C. Montgomery is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash which occurred at 11:40 am, July 27, 2016. The crash occurred on Route 18, (Pott’s Creek Road) in Alleghany County.
A 2010 Ford Ambulance was traveling south on Route 18 when it ran off the right side of the roadway, striking a mailbox and an embankment.
Claudette Clapsaddle Wince, 69, of Covington, Va was being transported by Republic Paging Ambulance when the crash occurred. Ms. Wince was transported by EMS to Alleghany Regional Hospital where she later died. Ms. Wince was belted to the gurney when the crash occurred.
Republic Paging Inc. is operated out of West Virginia. The driver of the ambulance was James Lee Vest.
Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction was called to assist.
The crash remains under investigation.
