Investigators promise to release new information this week  in the unsolved murders of two Virginia Tech students two and a half years ago. David Metzler and Heidi Childs were found shot to death in August of 2009. The task force still at work on the case will release new information on Thursday, information  which it says will include the type of murder weapon, stolen items, physical evidence and vehicles of interest. Metzler and Childs were killed in the Caldwell Fields camping and picnic area of the Jefferson National Forest not far from Blacksburg.

The multi-jurisdictional task force, created to investigate the murders of David Metzler and Heidi Childs, will be conducting a media release on Thursday March 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.  It will be held in the Montgomery County Government Center (755 Roanoke Street Christiansburg, VA) Board of Supervisor’s Meeting Room (second floor).  Sheriff Whitt has a statement to make and the task force will release the following information:

Type of Murder Weapon
Stolen Items
Physical Evidence
Vehicles of Interest

Sheriff Whitt will also be making a statement to the murderer.  There will be no questions following Sheriff Whitt’s statement.  Thank you for your assistance in keeping this case in front of the public.
