STAUNTON, Va. (AP) _ Mary Baldwin College will have a name change next year. The college’s board unanimously voted Monday to change the name from Mary Baldwin College to Mary Baldwin University Aug. 31, 2016. The school will also make another change in the Staunton residential part of the school, from the Residential College for Women to the Mary Baldwin College for Women. School president Pamela Fox says the name change reflects a bigger umbrella, and the depth and breadth of the school. Mary Baldwin College offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees. Mary Baldwin College was originally founded as the Augusta Female Seminary in 1842. The school was renamed Mary Baldwin Seminary in 1895, then changed it to its current name in 1923.
