Roanoke City is planning to conduct the first-ever “Roanoke Outdoor Circus” later this month — but this one is nothing like the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus coming here at the same time. WFIR’s Evan Jones has the story.

Organizers say it’s more of an outdoor sports festival. Camping, music, and all sorts of events at River’s Edge Sports complex three weekends from now. The intent is to promote awareness of the region’s many outdoor recreation opportunities. Roanoke City is sponsoring this first-ever “Roanoke Outdoor Circus” October 21st to 23rd with plenty of funding and other help from corporate sponsors and organizations.
