The commission that will recommend new congressional and legislative boundaries for Virginia is getting down to the mapwork, and it has just over three weeks to come up with a plan. The latest from News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones.

They dealt at first with going over the law and guidelines. Yesterday, staff members presented the first map alternatives for members to consider. No matter what recommendations it submits, however, the commission’s final report will not be binding. The General Assembly has the final say later this year. The Redistricting Commission is holding four public hearings around the state. There’s one in Roanoke Monday evening, March 14, 7:00 pm at Virginia Western Community College.
