A major supplier of blood to Virginia hospitals opened a new donor center in the Roanoke Valley today — and it is not the Red Cross. Virginia Blood Services provides blood to more than two dozen Virginia hospitals, including those in the Carilion Clinic system. WFIR’s Evan Jones has more.

Virginia Blood Services  has nine donor centers across much of the central and western region, including their newest at Lakeside Plaza in Salem. Click here for more information on Virginia Blood Services and its Roanoke Valley donor center.

VBS does not pay donors for blood, but it does offer a rewards program for those who donate on multiple occasions, everything from drink mugs to sling chairs. Click here to learn more about VBS Rewards.
