FROM VINTON POLICE:
On January 26, 2014, at approximately 12:30pm, Vinton Police Officers responded to 305 Cedar Ave. in the Town of Vinton in reference to suspicious circumstances. Shortly after arriving, officers were able to enter the residence and discovered a deceased female in the bedroom of the home.
Subsequent investigation has led to the arrest of Dean Austin Selbe, 29 year old male, who was a resident of the home and was on scene when the officers arrived. He has been charged with First Degree Murder in the death of Karen J. Selbe, who is the mother of the accused and also a resident of the home. The manner of death of Ms. Selbe is being considered a homicide and an investigation into the cause of death is being conducted by the medical examiner’s office.
More information will be released as details are available. Selbe was taken to the Roanoke County Jail where he is being held without bond.
