James Edward Porter
An undercover Bedford County investigator posing as an underage girl helped authorities catch an alleged sexual predator. Authorities say James Edward Porter is 31 years old and from Ranger, West Virginia. Investigators tracked him to Farmville, where he was arrested. The Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force says Porter was traveling across the central Virginia area as part of a work crew and living in various motels. He faces charges involving computer solicitation of a child. Investigators say Porter made internet contact with the undecover officer, thinking she was an underage girl and attempted to make arrangements to meet her in person.
