From the Virginia Lottery: Jacqueline Smyth hardly ever plays the lottery. In fact, it had been about two years since she last played when she recently bought a few tickets at the 7-Eleven at 1410 Grandin Road SW in Roanoke. That was all it took. One of those tickets won $150,000. The Roanoke woman won the top-prize in The Venetian Scratcher game from the Virginia Lottery. The Venetian is one of dozens of games offered by the Virginia Lottery. Ms. Smyth is the second player to claim the top prize, which means three $150,000 tickets are still unclaimed. In addition, non-winning The Venetian tickets can be entered in the Virginia Lottery’s Epic Vegas Scratcher promotion for one of ten Las Vegas trips worth $25,000 or a $150,000 cash prize. Four of the Vegas trips have been awarded. The remaining will be selected in drawings on June 11 and September 10. Ms. Smyth said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills and put the rest in the bank.
