From the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office: Over the last few months, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Christiansburg Police Department VICE unit, the Montgomery County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, and U.S. Marshal’s Service have conducted extensive operations and investigations into the use, manufacture, and distribution of methamphetamine. From September 15, 2016 through December 5, 2016, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has targeted meth related offenses with the culmination of those investigations being concluded on December 5, 2016 with a warrant round up being conducted in Montgomery County. On December 5, 2016, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Christiansburg Police Department VICE unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Service arrested 10 people on 84 felony warrants. During the targeted enforcement from September 15, 2016 through December 5, 2016, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office located 10 methamphetamine lab sites, conducted 4 search warrants, and identified 22 people involved with the use, manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine.

As a result of these investigations, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has or will be obtaining 214 felony charges from these investigations. The charges found during these investigations included:
4 counts of breaking and entering
9 counts of grand larceny
1 count of destruction of property
35 counts of manufacturing methamphetamine
5 counts of possession of methamphetamine
67 counts of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine
50 counts of accessory before the fact to the manufacture methamphetamine
33 counts of possession of methamphetamine precursors
6 counts of firearms related charges
4 counts of manufacturing methamphetamine with a child present

- Darrell Scott Akers Jr., 29 years of age, of Shawsville
- Jerry Ray Vaught, 54 years of age, of Christiansburg
- Justin Scott Robinson, 24 years of age, of Christiansburg
- Pamela Sue Akers, 51 years of age, of Riner
- Jesse Allan Thomas, 31 years of age, of Christiansburg
- Tim Wayne Radford, 48 years of age, of Christiansburg
- Craig Steven Dowdy, 46 years of age, of Pilot
- Christopher Robert Bibb, 36 years of age, of Shawsville
- Amanda Jo Brammer, 25 years of age, of New Castle
- Jason Lee Brammer, 36 years of age, of Elliston
- Ashely Poff Lester, 30 years of age, of Pilot
- Stephen Neil Haynes, 40 years of age, of Pilot
- Ralph Sergio Castrello, 52 years of age, of Christiansburg
- Laura Gay Castrello, 41 years of age, of Christiansburg
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has pending charges on 4 additional individuals that will be charged as a result of this targeted enforcement.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will continue to aggressively target and investigate methamphetamine related offenses that have plagued our area for the last 6 years. As a part of this targeted enforcement, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office actively assists in the education and training of law enforcement officers throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia along with many different community organizations that assist our citizens.
