RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ With more than 1 foot of snow forecast in some parts of Virginia, travelers are being warned that emergency roadside teams may only be able to respond to motorists in hazardous situations. AAA says that means motorists who are stranded in their driveway or secure location may be asked to stay put until conditions improve.
AAA’s Martha M. Meade says the auto club rarely limits calls but this storm is shaping up to be especially challenging. In January, AAA Mid-Atlantic’s emergency roadside assistance topped 222,000 calls — the highest monthly volume on record. A storm is expected to dump a foot and up to 16 inches in some higher locations. It should begin moving into the state Wednesday afternoon and continue through the night.
