A Franklin County elementary school teacher and school nurse are charged with conspiring to hire a hit man to kill the teacher’s former husband. State police say both were employed at Sontag Elementary School. Teacher Angela Nolen and nurse Cathy Bennett were arrested today. Police say Nolen paid an undercover officer $4,000 up front and agreed to pay another $4,000 once her former husband was dead. School officials say none of this occurred on school property, and no students were ever in danger.

Rocky Mount, VA – On February 20, 2013, Special Agents of The Virginia State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, arrested 2 persons for solicitation to commit murder. The investigation was based on information provided by the Virginia Conservation Police, Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Based on information obtained, state police agents arrested Ms. Angela Robin Nolen, age 47, of Moneta, VA and Ms. Cathy Warren Bennett, age 37, of Rocky Mount, VA.
Ms. Nolen met with an undercover state police special agent on February 19, 2013 and solicited the agent to murder her ex-husband, who is a 63 year old male of Moneta, Va. Ms. Nolen paid the undercover agent $4,000.00 in cash to carry out the killing, with the understanding to pay an additional $4,000.00 upon her ex-husband’s death.
Ms. Bennett’s charge stems from her attempting aid Ms. Nolen in procuring a “Hit Man” to murder her ex-husband.
Both suspects were employed by the Franklin County School System and are being held without bond at the Western Virginia Regional Jail.
Due to the pending criminal prosecution of both subjects in the Franklin County Court System, no additional information will be released regarding this investigation at this time.
