She was elected as a Democrat and is now running for a second term as an Independent. Roanoke County Supervisor Charlotte Moore faces two opponents next month in the Cave Spring District and says her background and record answer their challenges. And as WFIR’s Evan Jones reports, Moore says two of her votes in particular demonstrate her approach to county government.
Moore says she has her own background as an independent business person: a realtor for about 25 years and owner of a landscaping businesses since 1998.
At least one opponent has criticized Supervisors for approving millions in capital projects in recent years. Moore voted against the Greenridge Recreation Center but voted for the new South County library that will open late this year. She says between the many new computers and high-speed wi-fi, it will offer students who have slow or no Internet access at home an important resource.
Moore’s challengers in the Cave Spring District are Stan Seymour, also an Independent, and Republican George Assaid.
