Roanoke Police responded Saturday night to an attempted robbery at a Wendy’s and a robbery at a Hardees believed to be executed by the same person. Authorities say a man gave a note to employees at the Wendy’s at Rutgers Avenue and Hershberger Road threatening to use a weapon, but the robber never showed a weapon and left with no money. About 20 minutes later a suspect matching the same description entered a Hardee’s on Hersberger road with a similar note, but this time showed a knife taking off with cash from at least one register.
