From Virginia State Police: Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal crash that killed a Floyd County resident yesterday afternoon around 2:30 pm on Route 221 approximately 4 tenths mile north of Route 750 in Floyd County. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1993 Nissan pick up that was being operated by Charidy Lee Anders, age 70 of Willis, Virginia was traveling southbound on Route 221 when she ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree head on. Anders was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash but was pronounced dead at the scene. Two young juvenile passengers in the vehicle were airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for injuries that they sustained in the crash.
