This is a big year for Appomattox–the 150th anniversary of the event that ended the Civil War. Appomattox Court House National Historical Park is looking for volunteers to help handle the crowds expected for the sesquicentennial of the surrender of General Robert E. Lee’s army. Volunteer Services Coordinator Alyssa Holland says they don’t need more reenactors, but they do need people to help with everything from crowd control to visitor orientation. Holland says they’re looking for volunteers to work April 8th through 12th. Orientation days are scheduled for January 10th and 24th and they’ll take applications through March 1st.
