Virginia residents are among the most financially stressed in the country, ranking third for searches related to money worries, according to a study by Instaxchange.com.
The study analyzed Google searches for 59 financial stress-related terms, such as “debt help” and “budgeting app,” and calculated results per 100,000 residents. Virginia logged 156.9 searches per 100,000 people, despite an average wage of $70,050, which is higher than the national average of $62,000.
The most searched term in Virginia was “debt consolidation.”
Georgia topped the list as the most financially stressed state, followed by Colorado.
At the other end of the scale, New Mexico ranked as the least stressed, with 113.7 searches per 100,000 residents.
