Between noon and 3:30 p.m. yesterday Virginia State Police has investigated 85 crashes (three injury crashes) in our Wytheville District, which handles southwest Virginia. In our Salem district, we have investigated 51 crashes (four injury crashes).
Between 4pm-8pm yesterday
Div 1 (Richmond) – Virginia State Police has investigated 6 crashes, none with injuries
Div 2 (Culpeper – NW Va.) Virginia State Police has investigated two crashes, none with injuries
Div. 3 (Appomattox – Central-west) Virginia State Police has investigated 8 crashes, three with reported injuries.
Div. 4 (Wytheville – SWVA) – VSP has investigated 20 crashes, three with reported injuries (between noon and 4 it was 85 crashes, three with reported injuries).
Div.5 (Chesapeake – Hampton Roads) – VSP has investigated three crashes, one with reported injuries.
Div. 6 (Salem – western Va.) – VSP has investigated 47 crashes, five with reported injuries (between noon and four it was 51, four with reported injuries).
Div. 7 (NOVA) – Nothing at this time.
Virginia State Police continue to investigate crashes overnight as the winter storm continues in the Commonwealth. Virginia State Police has increased the number of state troopers on the roads to respond to crashes, and state troopers are working 12 hour shifts.
Between midnight and 4am
Div.1 (Richmond) – VSP has responded 13 crashes, one with reported injuries.
Div. 2 (Culpeper – NW Va.) – VSP has responded to 15 crashes, none with reported injuries
Div.3 (Appomattox – Central/West Va.) – VSP has responded to three crashes, none with reported injuries
Div. 4 (Wytheville – SW Va.) – VSP has responded to five crashes, none with reported injuries
Div. 5 (Chesapeake – Hampton Roads) – VSP has responded to six crashes, two with reported injuries. There is also a reported fatal crash VSP is investigating, however, I cannot say if it is storm-related. Please contact the Div. 5 PIO for additional details.

From 4pm Sunday until midnight, statewide, VSP responded to 181 crashes, 20 with reported injuries.
