In December the sculpture honoring 70 enslavened men who fought for the union during the Civil War will be errected at the former First Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. As WFIR’s Denise Allen Membreno reports the Raising the Shade monument committee hopes the monument helps bridge the racial divide.
