Flu-VaccinesFlu season is less than a month away, and health officials are opening walk-in vaccination clinics around the Roanoke Valley. Dr. Stephanie Harper, Director of the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts, says health department offices are taking walk-ins on Fridays. Vaccinations are also offered Wednessdays and Saturdays at the Community Wellness Center at Valley View Mall. Dr. Harper says the vaccinations are available as shots and nasal spray.

(ROANOKE, Va.) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) now offers flu shots at Valley View Mall in Roanoke and at local health departments in Covington, Roanoke, Salem, Vinton, Craig and Botetourt. Walk-in and appointment times are available. All Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Department Offices will have Walk-In service on Fridays. VDH accepts all forms of insurance and can make arrangements for people who are not insured or underinsured, at no out of pocket cost.

VDH recommends flu vaccine for everyone 6 months of age or older. “The vaccine is the best way to protect those you love from illness caused by the flu and its consequences. It is widely and conveniently available, so don’t miss the opportunity to get vaccinated,” commented Stephanie Harper, M.D., director of the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts.
