A Virginia state commission is seeking public feedback on a dementia care plan for seniors.  With the rate of Alzheimer’s on the rise, state officials are looking for better ways to diagnose, care for and inform residents about dementia. WFIR’s Bob Clark Reports.

The proposed plan focuses on the needs of those who have dementia and their caregivers. The report stresses the importance of early diagnosis and active management of dementias.$216 million worth of unpaid hours were spent caring for patients in Virginia in 2008. The public comment period on the state care plan runs through October 19th.
