
In the wake of a story reported several days ago, where a former owner of the Farmburgesa restaurants – now closed – was arrested for misdirecting food and beverage taxes collected, a joint letter was sent out to the public, announcing a commitment to make sure those taxes are collected, filed and sent to the City of Roanoke, where Tasha Burkett is the Treasurer.
Commissioner of the Revenue Ryan LaFountain was on that letter, where he acknowledged running a business – such as a restaurant – can be a “complex task,” – also saying that helping Roanoke businesses succeed “legitimately,” is the goal. Tasha Burkett is the city’s Treasurer:
