Users of ATM machines are advised to be vigilant, as illegal skimming devices are becoming more and more common. The device looks as if it belongs to the ATM machine and is placed over the existing equipment. The device captures video of the keystrokes used for the PIN number and the victim’s information off the ATM card. It does not interfere with the actual process of the victim’s ATM transaction.
Anyone with information about Antonescu or about suspicious activity involving ATMs is encouraged to notify the Virginia State Police Salem Division at 1-800-542-5959 or by dialing #77 on a cell phone, or emailing [email protected].
