Heavy rain and thunderstorms that moved through the area have resulted in some event cancellations.
The Blue Ridge Kite Festival at Green Hill Park was called off. Organizers have scheduled an “informal fun fly” Sunday with members of the Richmond Air Force Kite Club. That will start at 10:00 a.m. and will not feature food or other vendors that had been scheduled for the Saturday event.
In Blacksburg, the 3.2 mile Run in Remembrance scheduled for Saturday morning was cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Other Virginia Tech April 16th remembrance events events scheduled for Saturday were still being held, but a community picnic that was to have followed Saturday morning’s run had to be moved indoors.
