News release: The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office along with Bedford Town Police Department and surrounding jurisdictions have been receiving reports of counterfeit currency being passed at numerous local businesses. Please be aware and inspect all currency that you may receive. If an incident occurs, attempt to get any and all descriptors to include persons, vehicles and license numbers to forward when contacting law enforcement. It is suggested to check all 20, 50 and 100 dollar currency with a counterfeit money detector pen. If you come in contact with any individuals attempting to pass counterfeit currency, call 911.
