RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ Gov. Terry McAuliffe has signed a bill that will require governors to release the applications and resumes of people appointed to state boards and commissions. Republican Del. Scott Taylor introduced the bill after McAuliffe’s administration refused to provide The Virginian Pilot with the applications forms of then-state Senate candidate Gary McCollum for two state boards. The newspaper sought the forms after it reported that the Democrat hadn’t been in the military since he was discharged in 2001, but was saying in campaign materials that he was a major in the Army Reserve. McCollum said he didn’t realize he was no longer in the reserve. The Pilot reports that the bill will require the governor to release applications and resumes of board appointees starting July 1.
