49 years after he was assassinated in Memphis, Dr. Martin Luther King Junior was remembered today with prayers, songs and remarks at the downtown Roanoke statue that honors his memory. Roanoke Mayor Sherman Lea was among those who made a remarks – and he closed the late morning ceremony with a prayer. Perneller Chubb-Wilson founded the local S-C-L-C chapter:
