Roanoke’s new City Manager was sworn in this morning, succeeding Bob Cowell and interim City Manager Lydia Patton, who took over after Cowell resigned in the spring of 2024. Valmarie Turner was sworn in this morning, at a City Council chambers before a packed house. Turner had most recently been the deputy city manager in Fairfax. Turner was also an Assistant County Administrator in Loudon County before that.
