A recent Gallup survey suggests Roanoke has one of the highest rates of depression in the country, and a local psychiatrist doesn’t argue with that finding. The story from News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones.

Gallup asked people nationwide if a doctor or nurse had even told them they showed symptoms of depression. Of the 188 metropolitan areas surveyed, Roanoke had the 10th highest rate.
Most of the regions with the highest depression diagnosis rates are from the Appalachian region. West Virginia had two of the top three highest depression rates. Bristol and Knoxville also made the top ten.
