RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – Former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is joining the national conservative group, FreedomWorks Foundation, as general counsel. FreedomWorks said in a news release Wednesday that Cuccinelli would lead a new state attorneys general project aimed at fighting what the group called “the federal regulatory state.” An outspoken conservative, Cuccinelli ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2013. He was rumored to be considering a second run in 2017, but said earlier this year that he has no interest. Cuccinelli also played a major role in the presidential bid of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
