23 middle school students were treated for heat exposure today, after heading to Calfee Park to watch a Pulaski Yankees baseball game. They were among 1,800 6th and 7th graders from several counties attending the game as part of a field trip.
From LewisGale Regional Health Center: It is our understanding that middle school aged children were attending an event at Calfee Park to watch a baseball game. At this time, LewisGale Hospital Pulaski is treating 23 children for heat exposure. They arrived via ambulance and are being evaluated and treated as needed. Ten have already been discharged. No admissions and no transfers have taken place. No adults attending the same event have required any treatment at this time.
