Lawyers for 202 Market are going before the full Alcohol Beverage Control Board this afternoon, appealing a ruling that would suspend the restaurant’s liquor license for last February’s striptease. An ABC hearing officer ruled in October that 202 Market can either pay a $1,000 fine and lose its liquor license for three days, or it can pay no fine and lose it for 10 days.
All this goes back to February, when a man performed a strip tease during a fund-raising event held at the restaurant. State law prohibits such acts in bars, even if the managers and staff did not know it was coming. An ABC spokeswoman says the board typically hands down rulings within 30 days of such hearings and frequently does so much more quickly.
