In Roanoke, Trump says he will champion women AP September 25, 2016 1 min read ROANOKE, Va. (AP) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is arguing that he’ll do more to help women from the White House than Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. As Trump campaigned in the battleground state of Virginia, Clinton stayed close to home in New York while preparing for Monday night’s opening debate. Trump told supporters at a rally Saturday in Roanoke, Virginia, that Clinton has not delivered for women and children. “My opponent likes to say that for decades she’s been fighting for women, that she’s been fighting for children. Why, then, are 70 million American women and children living in poverty or on the brink of poverty in our country?” Trump asked. “For years she’s been doing this and she’s done nothing.” About the Author AP Author View All Posts Share: Continue Reading Previous: Zoo deals with loss of accreditationNext: Sheriff’s deputy shot in leg, abdomen in Floyd County Related Stories 1 min read Hospitality House of the Blue Ridge will launch capital campaign soon to remodel new home Gene Marrano October 3, 2025 1 min read AAA Mid-Atlantic urges Virginia drivers to stay alert as deer mating season is in full swing Web Staff October 3, 2025 1 min read GOP Lt Gov candidate John Reid accused of fetishizing Nazism Clark Palmer October 3, 2025
