LOVINGSTON, Va. (AP) – A former Albemarle County supervisor has received the Democratic nomination to run for Congress in Virginia’s 5th District. The News & Advance reports that Jane Dittmar got the nod at the party’s district convention Saturday in Nelson County. She said she will focus on bringing back jobs that were lost in the recession. Republicans will choose their nominee at a convention May 14. Seeking the nomination are state Sen. Tom Garrett, former congressional security adviser Joseph Whited, developer Jim McKelvey and technology executive Michael Del Ross. The incumbent, Republican Robert Hurt, is not seeking re-election.
