Many communities will present fireworks displays tonight, but the area’s largest can be found in Roanoke. It’s part of the annual July 4th Roanoke Times Music for Americans celebration. News/Talk 960’s Evan Jones has more on this year’s program.
Fireworks return to the Salem Fair for tonight only. They used to be a nightly attraction at the fair but had been discontinued in recent years after some new buildings went up near the fairgrounds. This year’s fireworks shells will be smaller in size to meet fire codes and the presence of those nearby buildings.

Fireworks will return to Salem Fair
SALEM – Fireworks are returning to the Salem Fair for the Fourth of July this year.
The popular night-time show during the Salem Fair which starts on Thursday this week were missing for the last few years after buildings were constructed on the Elizabeth Campus near the Salem Family YMCA,
Although the fireworks will be shot off near the previous location – which is not being disclosed, according to City of Salem spokespeople, in order to keep people from getting too close – “They will be visible from the fair,” said Mike Stevens, the city’s public relations director.
Fireworks are due to go up between 9 and 9:30 p.m., Stevens said, and only on July 4.
