RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ A drought watch advisory for the Roanoke River basin has been lifted following above-normal rainfall. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality says rainfall during the last 60 days eliminated precipitation deficits across most of the basin. The basin could see more above-normal rainfall during the next month. The department says in a news release that stream flows and ground water levels are back to normal or above-normal levels. Localities and public water suppliers in the Roanoke River basin include Patrick, Franklin, Roanoke, Henry, Bedford, Pittsylvania, Campbell, Halifax, Charlotte and Mecklenburg counties, along with the cities of Danville, Martinsville, Roanoke and Salem. The drought watch advisory was issued in September.
