RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ The chairman of the Democratic Party of Virginia plans to step down. Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones has served as the party’s chairman since March 2014. Party spokeswoman Morgan Finkelstein tells The Washington Post that Jones will announce his decision during a meeting of party officials in Henrico County. The Richmond Times-Dispatch first reported Jones’ pending departure as chairman. A spokeswoman for Jones, Tammy D. Hawley, tells the newspaper that he won’t discuss his decision until the party meeting on Friday.
