FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) _ Hampden-Sydney College says an illness that sickened about 300 students is norovirus. The college says in a posting on its website that classes are canceled until Wednesday, along with athletic practices and competitions, extracurricular activities, and fraternity social events. Hampden-Sydney had planned to resume classes on Monday. The college says cleaning all buildings on campus and taking other steps will take longer than anticipated. Administrative offices will resume normal hours on Tuesday. Students began seeking treatment at the school’s wellness center and an area hospital last Tuesday night. The college says 142 students were treated as of last Thursday morning. The college estimates another 150 students were ill but didn’t seek treatment.
