A Roanoke teen is charged with firing a single gunshot at two police officers a week ago in southeast Roanoke. The bullet hit the windshield of a parked car. The officers heard the shot fired in the 700 block of Montrose Avenue, shortly before 2 a.m. on June 12. The officers found the 17-year-old with a small-caliber handgun. Court records show the teen admitted to firing the gun and told the officers that he “was sorry he missed. The officers had earlier stopped the teen on a moped. They gave him tickets for a helmet violation and defective lighting. It’s believed he shot at them in retaliation for those summonses. The teen is charged with two counts of attempted malicious wounding and a firearms charge.
