Democratic US Senator Tim Kaine spoke about that this afternoon.
(previously) The US Department of Justice is demanding University of Virginia President Jim Ryan resign amid an investigation into the school’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. News outlets are reporting the DOJ is accusing Ryan of not dismantling the university’s DEI programs and alleged he misrepresented efforts to wind such initiatives down. The demand for Ryan to step down was allegedly made by Gregory Brown, the deputy assistant attorney general for civil rights. Brown, a UVA graduate, sued the university last year on behalf of a Jewish student who accused administrators of overlooking antisemitic harassment.
