Lots of older Vinton homes have chicken houses, but they’ve been empty for years — no chickens allowed in town. But Town Council and the Planning Commission have been working for months to develop an ordinance permitting their return. There are plenty of proposed restrictions: at least one acre of property, no commercial sale of eggs or chicken meat, no more than six birds — and no roosters. Town Council will hear from residents tonight before deciding. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm.
