A mid-October poll of 958 registered Virginia voters by Clarity Campaign Labs, which works with progressive campaigns and organizations, shows Democrat Abigail Spanberger with a 10 point lead over Winsome Earle-Sears in the race for Governor. For Lt. Governor Democratic state senator Ghazala Hashmi is 4 points up on John Reid. Republican incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares and Democrat challenger Jay Jones are tied at 47 percent each, with 7 percent undecided. Clarity Campaign Labs claims that Jones, despite the texting issue, has a clear path to victory if he can tie Miyares closely to President Trump, whose favorability numbers are under water in Virginia.
Meanwhile the most recent poll from Virginia Commonwealth University released today has Abigail Spanberger up 7 points over Winsome Earle-Sears for Governor, Ghazala Hashmi up one point on the GOP’s John Reid for Lt. Governor, and Republican incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares up three points on Democrat Jay Jones – a nine point swing from the last VCU phone and online survey, when Jones lead – before the text message controversy.
