Around 10:00 p.m. Friday night officers from the Salem Police Department were called to the 110 block of Sheraton Drive in reference to a stabbing. Once on the scene, the officers found a man who had been stabbed in the upper torso. He was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was admitted in serious, but stable condition. After further investigation, the officers found that the victim and 59-year-old Scott Edward Gilmer were in the same vehicle when a physical confrontation occurred between the two. Gilmer, of Staunton, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and is being held at the Roanoke County/Salem jail without bond.
