Salem City and Roanoke County officials say Comcast cable and internet service does not meet present-day standards, and the company shows no interest in improving it. They wanted Comcast to promise upgrades as part of a new franchise agreement but say Comcast doesn’t sound interested. Salem mayor Randy Foley says as a result, they’ve ceased negotiating with Comcast and will look for other options.  He does not expect current service to change while these options are explored. Comcast serves all of Salem and a small portion of Roanoke County.
